Introducing Joe: WCD adds another developer to its ranks

Following on from last week’s blog post introducing you to Will and Kyle, two of our new developers, we’re pleased to announce that Joe has also joined our ranks - bringing with him a wealth of valuable web development experience.

Joe

Joe is a web developer specialising in Wordpress and Drupal CMS. He is also enthusiastic about web marketing trends especially SEO.

With a Multimedia Computing Degree and ten years experience in web marketing and web design roles, Joe has worked in the public sector for Essex Police, Anglia Ruskin University and built websites for schools. In the last three years Joe part-owned a web design company and freelanced for many clients within the building industry and educational establishments.

We asked our latest recruit a few questions to find out more about his professional background and learn a little more about what he likes to do outside of work.

Tell us about your career to date… how did you end up here at WCD?

Since receiving my degree in multimedia computing, I have worked for the public sector, including the police and universities. My jobs roles have varied from Statistical Officer to Web Officer and Webmaster to Web developer.

For the last three years, I have been freelancing as a web developer. However, I believe that you can only learn so much by yourself, which is why I recently built my online portfolio before sending it to WCD on LinkedIn. They got in touch and after an interview, they offered me a job.

What are you most looking forward to working on here?

I am looking forward to working in a team and learning from others. I also hope that I can draw on my knowledge and experience to provide a valuable contribution.

Windows or Mac?

I converted to Mac two years ago and haven’t looked back since. I have no idea why I was initially so against them!

Hobbies?

I enjoy researching web trends, especially new SEO techniques.

I also regularly attend beer festivals and as a member of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), I try to attend as many CAMRA events as possible; my favourite beer festival has to be Oktoberfest in Munich - if only I could afford to go every year!

I also enjoy watching live music and going spinning.

If you won £1 million, what would you do with the money?

I would invest in property (boring, I know).
